The Bee Alert Geolocator application is the first geolocation identification platform for disappearance occurrences and bee deaths. The data collected should be provided by beekeepers, meliponiculturists and the scientific community, in a crowdsourcing activity. The data will be kept confidential, and only the cause pointed out in the occurrence will be shared, upon authorization of the informant directly on the platform. The data will be validated by the team of Cetapis, led by the researcher and organizer of the campaign “Bee or Not To Be?”, Prof. Lionel followed Gonçalves. This information will be exclusively used for studies and scientific publications.
This initiative is inserted in the context of the “Bee Or Not To Be?” Campaign? Bee protection, in order to illustrate and tangible the problem of bee disappearance and death. Hence the great importance of making the records.
The Bee Alert app received silver medal in the X -Latin American Ibero Apiculture Apiculture Innovation Contest 2014, and its use was officially nominated by Filapi for all the confederations that compose it. Data specifically collected by the application in these countries will be shared with the respective bee and scientific leaders of each country.
