Application for Assessment of Damage Resulting from the ATU ATU DONBAS.
The conflict in the Donbass took hundreds of lives and led to serious destruction of infrastructure, economic decline and a deterioration in people's lives. In the conditions of such crises, one of the key problems is access to information. One of the problems today is the lack of a public database on the destruction of residential and public infrastructure.
reDonbass allows citizens to report directly information about their destroyed house, hospital, and school. And also notify the public about what is destroyed and what is done for recovery.
The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Social Boost public organization offer a solution that, on the one hand, makes it possible to monitor the destruction of residential buildings, social and economic infrastructure as a result of hostilities in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, and on the other gives citizens, the government and international organizations the opportunity to directly obtain such information.
Available single web database, as well as a mobile application, provide a technical possibility of entering information about the object, its location, destruction and photographs. The collection of information is carried out decentralized - everyone with a mobile phone and Internet access can make their information. The information is accumulated and is presented in the form of convenient cards, and lists, providing the search for localization, categories of objects, degree of destruction, and the recovery stage.
The collected data can help the government receive updated information, and use it to plan recovery. In this context, the data obtained will be at the disposal of the Agency for the restoration of Donbass and will be actively used for current work. Additionally, the database can be used to attract international financing for the restoration of the injured cities and the villages of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
Summing up, we can say that the result of the project will be:
- current monitoring of the destruction of Donbass - the determination of the most affected settlements, and the needs for restoration;
- The informed public of Ukraine and the international community on the scale of damage to infrastructure;
- a visual representation of destruction - which is very important for understanding the problem;
- the possibility of using data by the government and international organizations for more - effective planning for the restoration of Donbass;
- the possibility of citizens to track the process of recovery and analyze the contributions of various - subjects (government, public and international organizations, business) to the restoration process;
- Strengthening the participation of people in the process of restoration through their involvement in the collection of information and control over restoration.
Participating in the project, entering information to the database, each person will help restore school, hospital or house, accelerate the process of restoring water supply.
